Chapter 16 Shloka 9
एतां दृष्टिमवष्टभ्य नष्टात्मानोऽल्पबुद्धय:।
प्रभवन्त्युग्रकर्माण: क्षयाय जगतोऽहिता:।।९।।
Taking support of such views,
those ruined souls possessed of
petty intellects and evil deeds are born
for the destruction of the world
and are its antagonists.
Chapter 16 Shloka 9
एतां दृष्टिमवष्टभ्य नष्टात्मानोऽल्पबुद्धय:।
प्रभवन्त्युग्रकर्माण: क्षयाय जगतोऽहिता:।।९।।
The Lord says:
Taking support of such views, those ruined souls possessed of petty intellects and evil deeds are born for the destruction of the world and are its antagonists.
The Lord says, “Those people who denounce the world as false:
a) are ruined and ruinous souls;
b) are possessed of a petty intellect;
c) wish evil for the world;
d) are enemies who have come to destroy the world;
e) engage in wicked deeds;
f) perform horrendous acts.
Such people cannot discern the difference between shreya and preya, vice and virtue, dharma and adharma.
Such souls:
a) are replete with greed and avarice;
b) live only for the satiation of their desires;
c) live only for sense gratification;
d) live only for the ‘I’;
e) want to do only what they enjoy.
Such people cannot handle their own problems – how can they bear others’ burdens?
1. Their knowledge is only utilised for desire fulfilment.
2. Their worship is moulded by their desires.
3. Their actions are motivated by desire.
They do everything only for the establishment of the ‘I’.
1. If they utter knowledge, it will be false.
2. If they love, it is full of treachery.
3. If they engage in any deeds, such deeds are bound to be selfish.
4. The very foundation of such a one’s life is false.
5. Their saintly demeanour is false.
6. Their worship is false.
7. Their conduct is deceitful.
8. Their business is based on false practices.
9. They are enemies of the world.
10. They are inimical to love.
11. They are antagonistic towards divine attributes and tendencies.
12. They are the eternal enemies of peace and happiness.
In fact, whosoever condemns the world as false or baseless, is an enemy of the world. He disseminates deceit and his every act is sinful.
Now understand how such a one is inimical towards the world.
1. To live in darkness is to be an enemy of the world.
2. To live in darkness is sustaining enmity with Brahm Himself.
3. To live in darkness is enmity with Truth Itself.
4. The predominance of ‘I’ is enmity with the Supreme.
5. Dwelling in delusions and believing that others are nothing but illusion is positive enmity with the world.
6. Such ruminations based on falsehood are a sin.
7. Such delusive ruminations cause the destruction of the world.
One who believes such fallacies possesses a petty intellect. This is ignorance. Whatever one does with such a foundation:
a) will necessarily be wicked;
b) will be impure;
c) will augment impurity;
d) will augment ignorance;
e) will augment wickedness;
f) will give rise to dissension;
g) will augment conflict and disruption;
h) will be motivated by selfishness.
Nashtatma (नष्टात्मा)
People with such demonic tendencies inevitably abuse the Atma.
1. Such a one distances himself from the essence of the Atmavaan.
2. Such a one distances himself from the Supreme.
3. Such a one augments darkness and gloom within.
Little one, those who possess such tendencies may engage themselves in several activities, but have been born for the destruction of the world – they are indeed enemies of this creation of the Lord.
अध्याय १६
एतां दृष्टिमवष्टभ्य नष्टात्मानोऽल्पबुद्धय:।
प्रभवन्त्युग्रकर्माण: क्षयाय जगतोऽहिता:।।९।।
भगवान कहते हैं :
शब्दार्थ :
१. इस दृष्टि का आसरा लेकर,
२. वे उग्र कर्म करने वाले,
३. नष्टात्मा और अल्पबुद्धि वाले लोग,
४. जग के अहितकर (हैं),
५. (वे) जग के नाश के लिये उत्पन्न होते हैं।
तत्त्व विस्तार :
भगवान कहते हैं, ‘जग को मिथ्या मानने वाले लोग,
क) नष्टात्मा होते हैं।
ख) अल्प बुद्धि होते हैं।
ग) जग के अहितकर होते हैं।
घ) जग का नाश करने वाले शत्रु होते हैं।
ङ) अति क्रूर कर्मी होते हैं।
च) बहुत भयानक कर्म करने वाले होते हैं।’
भाई! वे धर्म, अधर्म, पाप, पुण्य, श्रेय, प्रेय में भेद नहीं जानते ।
ऐसे लोग,
क) लोभ तृष्णा से भरे हुए होते हैं।
ख) केवल कामना पूर्ति के लिये ही जीते हैं।
ग) केवल उपभोग के कारण ही जीते हैं।
घ) केवल ‘मैं’ के कारण ही जीते हैं।
ङ) केवल निज इन्द्रिय उपभोग के कारण ही जीते हैं।
च) केवल रुचिकर ही करना चाहते हैं।
वे अपना बोझ नहीं उठा सकते, दूजे का क्या उठायेंगे ?
– उनका ज्ञान कामना पूर्ण होता है।
– उनकी उपासना कामना पूर्ण होती है।
– उनके कर्म कामना पूर्ण होते हैं।
वे सब कुछ ‘मैं’ की स्थापना अर्थ ही करते हैं।
ऐसे लोग,
1. ज्ञान कहें, तो झूठ ही कहते हैं।
2. प्रेम करें, तो झूठा ही करते हैं।
3. काज करें, तो वे स्वार्थ पूर्ण ही होते हैं।
4. ऐसों के जीवन का आधार ही झूठ होता है।
5. इनकी साधुता भी झूठी होती है।
6. इनकी पूजा भी झूठी है।
7. इनका व्यवहार भी झूठा है।
8. इनका व्यापार भी झूठा है।
9. जग के ये नित्य दुश्मन होते हैं।
10. प्रेम के ये नित्य दुश्मन होते हैं।
11. दैवी सम्पद् के ये नित्य दुश्मन होते हैं।
12. सुख शान्ति के ये नित्य दुश्मन होते हैं।
भाई! गर सच पूछो तो जो भी जग को झूठा कहता है, वह जग का दुश्मन है। वह जग में झूठ फैलाता है। वह जो भी करता है जहान में, पाप ही करता है।
ये लोग जग के दुश्मन कैसे हैं, यह समझ ले।
क) अन्धकार में रहना जग से दुश्मनी है।
ख) अन्धकार में रहना ब्रह्म से दुश्मनी है।
ग) अन्धकार में रहना सत् से दुश्मनी है।
घ) ‘मैं’ की प्रधानता ‘परम’ से दुश्मनी है।
ङ) मिथ्या रमण और दूसरे को मिथ्या मानना, जग से दुश्मनी है।
च) मिथ्या रमण ही सबसे बड़ा पाप है।
छ) मिथ्या रमण ही जग क्षय का कारण है।
ऐसा मानने वाले को अल्प बुद्धि मानना चाहिये, इसी को अज्ञान जानना चाहिये।
इस दृष्टिकोण के आसरे जो भी करो, वह:
क) क्रूर कर्म ही होगा।
ख) अशुद्ध कर्म ही होगा।
ग) अशुद्धि वर्धक ही होगा।
घ) अज्ञान वर्धक ही होगा।
ङ) दुष्टता ही बढ़ायेगा।
च) क्लेश उत्पन्न करने वाला ही होगा।
छ) अशान्ति वर्धक ही होगा।
ज) स्वार्थ पूर्ण ही होगा।
नष्टात्मा :
ऐसा आसुरी वृत्ति पूर्ण जीव आत्मा का नाश करने वाला ही होगा।
– वह आत्मवान के तत्त्व से दूर करने वाला ही होगा।
– वह परम से दूर करने वाला ही होगा।
– वह अन्धकार वर्धक ही होगा।
नन्हीं! जो लोग ऐसी वृत्ति वाले होते हैं, वे काम तो बहुत करते हैं, किन्तु जगत का नाश करने के लिये वे शत्रु रूप ही उत्पन्न हुए होते हैं।
