इत्यर्जुनं वासुदेवस्तथोक्त्वा स्वकं रूपं दर्शयामास भूय:।
आश्वासयामास च भीतमेनं भूत्वा पुन: सौम्यवपुर्महात्मा।।५०।।
Now Sanjay addresses Dhritrashtra:
Speaking thus, Vaasudeva Sri Krishna once more revealed His earlier form and assuming His benevolent manifestation, That exalted One pacified the fearful Arjuna.
Kamla look, on the one hand the Lord accorded a revelation of His Cosmic Form to Arjuna in His extreme compassion. On the other hand, He humbly becomes subservient to Arjuna in order to pacify him. The Lord’s divinity lies hidden in this one act.
1. Thus does that Supreme Lord of all come down to encourage the individual soul.
2. Thus does the Supreme Lord of the Universe, take even the foolish into His embrace.
3. Thus does That Supreme Embodiment of effulgence and knowledge, delight and comfort the ignorant.
4. The person who is proud of his knowledge becomes agitated when confronted with the One who is Knowledge Itself.
5. The One who is Love Itself is flooding His devotee with love.
6. The Lord revealed His perfect form to His devotee in all His Love, and the devotee was instilled with fear!
Little one, in the present context, Arjuna is the Lord’s loved one. That Supreme Lover of His devotees reassumed His benign form once more. He then reassured Arjuna, “Dear friend, why are you so afraid?”
This is the core of Adhyatam. This is the Lord’s humility. Little one, watch the Lord’s identification with Arjuna. Witness how the Lord Himself bows before Arjuna to pacify him. He is assuming different forms at Arjuna’s request. In doing so, He is only endeavouring to fulfil Arjuna’s wishes.
At this juncture Arjuna’s victory was at stake.
1. Arjuna was himself proving to be a hindrance in the path of his own goal.
2. Arjuna was making every endeavour to flee from the war.
3. Arjuna was gripped by moha.
Notice how many methods the Lord employs to take Arjuna towards his own Self. Thus must every sadhak engage himself in individual spiritual practice. You must learn how to employ your body, mind and intellect to fulfil another’s dreams and desires. This must be your aim and this in fact is the only path to fulfil that aim.
