Chapter 10 Shloka 31
पवन: पवतामस्मि राम: शस्त्रभृतामहम्।
झषाणां मकरश्चास्मि स्रोतसामस्मि जाह्नवी।।३१।।
The Lord now says:
I am the wind amongst all purifiers; I am Ram amongst the wielders of weapons; amongst fish, I am the crocodile and amongst rivers, I am Ganga.
A. The Lord says, “Amongst all purifiers, I am the wind.”
1. The wind cleanses the world of all impurities.
2. It spreads purity through its immense velocity.
3. It constantly purifies all beings internally as well.
The Lord says, “I am that wind.”
Little one, henceforth when you breathe, feel the Lord Himself flow within you. When your body experiences contact with the air (which is happening constantly), know that you are in the Lord’s embrace.
B. “Of the wielders of weapons, I am Ram.”
Lord Krishna is demonstrating His oneness and unity with Lord Ram – the wielder of the bow, saying, “I am Ram.” Thus, Lord Krishna is also Ram Himself – the divine Upholder and Protector of traditional values – Maryada Purusha Purushottam.
C. The Lord says, “Amongst the water-borne creatures, I am the crocodile.”
1. The crocodile is the largest of all inhabitants of the river.
2. It is considered to be their king.
3. It devours the largest fish.
4. The crocodile is the most dangerous amongst them.
The Lord says, “I am the crocodile.”
D. The Lord now proclaims that He is Ganga amongst the rivers.
1. The waters of the Ganga are ever pure. They do not spoil even if they are preserved for long periods of time.
2. Ganga is symbolic of purity.
3. Ganga is symbolic of knowledge.
The Lord says “I am that Ganga.”
