Chapter 9 Shloka 7
सर्वभूतानि कौन्तेय प्रकृतिं यान्ति मामिकाम्।
कल्पक्षये पुनस्तानि कल्पादौ विसृजाम्यहम्।।७।।
The Lord now says:
At the end of each cycle, all beings attain My Prakriti; and at the beginning of a cycle, I again send them forth.
1. Little one, when death grips the individual, the constituents of that body merge once more into the five elements.
2. Thoughts, which become sanskars or latencies, attain seed form and enter a state of suspension.
3. When birth takes place again, those seeds sprout forth again.
4. An individual is recreated.
5. Sanskars once more begin to germinate and take form.
It is as though the Lord creates the destiny of each person with the help of Prakriti. A universal law rules the world. The seeds of the fruits of actions become live through their contact with Truth and in accordance with the collective destinies. This entire creation takes place with the support of Truth.
Life in the seeds of karma
Look Kamla Bhabhi, let me tell you:
a) that which the individual considered to be the truth;
b) that which the individual ‘used’ as the truth in life;
c) the justification which he used to prove himself faultless;
d) that which he considered to be the truth and thus justified even his greed;
e) the ‘truth’ with which he proved his moha, his self-centredness and ego to be correct;
that truth proves to be the basic thought which forms the seed of karma.
The Lord bestows the fruits of those actions born of attachment. Thus does the illusion of Truth reflect even in the non-truth. Whatever you may consider to be the truth – even if you call the untruth the truth, that belief gives rise to the energy of regeneration. Of the seeds of trees that fall to the ground, some fructify and others do not. However, the seeds of the jivatma or the mortal being fall to the fertile soil of the Atma. No seed that falls upon that soil remains unfructified. They don myriad forms. Those seeds sprout forth because of the fragment of Truth within them. Therefore the Lord says that these seeds are created by Him, the Embodiment of Truth.
Little one, just as an individual dreams in accordance with his mental aberrations and lacunae, so also this entire creation springs forth due to the aberrations inherent in all living beings. Collective aberrations form collective laws of destiny. All this is contained within the dream of Brahm.
Therefore it is often stated in the Puranas, that this entire creation emerged from the navel of Brahm as He slept unperturbed.
