अर्जुन उवाच
अथ केन प्रयुक्तोऽयं पापं चरति पूरुष:।
अनिच्छन्नपि वार्ष्णेय बलादिव नियोजित:।।३६।।
Hearing all this, Arjuna asks Bhagwan:
What prompts a man to sin – even though unwilling, as if perforce?
Arjuna seeks to know from the Lord:
1. How is it that a person sins as though perforce?
2. What impels one who acts in accordance with dharma, to commit an act contrary to dharma?
3. How does a virtuous sadhu What impels perform the evil deeds of a non-sadhu?
4. How does a Kshatriya take recourse to the qualities of one who is not a Kshatriya?
5. What prompts a man to make a mistake, despite himself?
6. Why can an individual not restrain himself, even if he so desires?
7. Why does he forget his innate nature?
8. Why is he misguided about the action he must perform?
9. Why does he forget his duty?
Who compels the individual thus? Who creates superstition within him?
